David and Patricia Ayres are associate missionaries with SAMS (Society of Anglican Missionaries and Senders), serving as church planters with the Reformed Episcopal Church Board of Foreign Missions in Berlin, Germany.
They are excited to tell the story of how an American pastor and a German flight attendant met, fell in love, got married, and started tearing down walls together in Berlin! The two of them see how God was weaving their lives together for His purpose even before they met in 2010! They believe that purpose is to invite Berliners into reconciling relationships with God by inviting them to follow Jesus Christ.
In May 2016 they started Christ Church Anglican Berlin and have been working since then to nurture a small congregation which now numbers around 20 when everyone is present.
From the beginning, the tiny Christ Church congregation has been an international mix. It currently represents at least nine different countries! Despite their diversity, their common mission is “to be disciples who make disciples of Jesus” in their respective communities. David and Patricia are encouraged to see what God is able to do through a little boldness in love and hospitality. They are seeing spiritual walls beginning to come down, and they envision a city reconciled to God: Berlin, the heart of Europe, transformed by the love of Christ!
